About Kendra Little

Kendra Little, a Database Reliability Engineer and SQL Server performance tuning expert, smiling warmly in a professional headshot

Hi, I’m Kendra Little

I’m a Database Reliability Engineer who fights query optimization crimes and protects databases from performance disasters. I’ve worked with SQL Server since the way back days. Currently, I help teams with AWS RDS SQL Server and PostgreSQL.

I’ve written technical content here since 2009, and I still find databases fascinating.

I love learning how different database platforms work: like the Spice Girls, each one has its own personality and strengths. Each one needs a different approach to tuning workloads. I enjoy working with developers, shipping products, and making things work well for customers.

I write about topics from query tuning to DevOps, making complex concepts accessible through blog posts, videos, cartoons, and training courses.

Hobbies, I Have Them

When I’m not troubleshooting databases, I’m swimming, herding corgis, or making art and quilts. Procreate is my favorite app for drawing on an iPad.

I also enjoy creating static websites and writing for them. I am a fan of Co-Programming with Robots and currently spend time with Cursor, but I’m probably going to break up with it for another robot named Claude.

I am married to a delightful woodworker who wears plaid. Be careful kids, he was a programmer once but got into Rust, which is the gateway language for leaving computing.

Gaze upon my resume

My finest work.
